JINJA Motor Club (JMC) and Motorsport Africa Club (MOSAC) have been denied 2010 National Rally Championship events, a penalty for poorly organising the 2008 Independence and MOSAC Challenge rallies respectively.

Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) vice president Kisitu Mayanja warned that under-performing clubs will continue to lose major events.

“They miserably failed to meet the required standards. They will regain the events next year. This season clubs that will poorly organise their events will lose them. The purpose of such measures is to improve events,” Mayanja explained.

MOSAC, which was the most respected club in the country, will only organise a sprint in November.

JMC president Dolly Mubarak has cried foul and threatened to drag FMU to court.

“FMU claims the Independence Rally was poorly organised but their officials were also involved. They should take responsibility too. I am going to petition NCS this week and if we don’t get justice we shall go to court,” a fuming Mubarak said.

Mayanja explained that FMU officials intervened to save the race from ending prematurely.

Southern Motor Club which lost its event last year will take over the Independence Rally while Uganda Motor Club that has been serving a two-year ban has been allocated an NRC event in June.
