THE Police have identified the 22-year-old woman who was murdered on Saturday at Hill Road Primary School in Masaka municipality as Barbara Nantongo Kavuma.

The district criminal investigation officer, Patrick Bamanyindo, said Nantongo’s body was found on Saturday in a pool of blood after unknown people crushed her head with a big stone.

The body had no identification documents but the relatives identified it in Masaka Hospital mortuary on January 11, Bamanyindo added.

He said Nantongo was working with The AIDS Support Organisation in Mulago, Kampala. The Police have not arrested any suspects in connection with the murder.

“We are still investigating,” Bamanyindo said.

Nantongo’s relatives, who declined to be named, said they suspect she had a boyfriend working in Masaka town.

It is alleged that Nantongo disappeared from her home in Kansanga, a Kampala suburb, on Saturday. The family members tried to look for her in vain.

According to Police statistics, murder cases increased by over 30% last year.
