JOSEPH Mwanje started his era as the new chairman of Buganda region by donating sh1m and 80 balls to each of the four zones in the Buganda region.

Mwanje, who beat incumbent Rogers Mulindwa to the post by 30-24 votes after a stormy election at FUFA House Mengo on Saturday, promised to unite the warring factions. This he started by naming Mulindwa as his vice chairman administration.

“That is just the beginning. What we want is a united Buganda as a way of becoming the leading region in terms of football development,” he said.

Elsewhere, Abbas Ssendyowa was elected chairman of western region after earlier contenders Michael Enganjani Wandera (zone 11 chairman) and Rodgers Byamukama (zone 5) stepped down for him. Ssendyowa replaces Chris Kalibbala.

“I thank the members for electing me and promise to work hand in hand with every body for the development of the game in the region and in Uganda,” a joyous Ssendyowa said after.
