Don’t kill thieves but arrest them

EDITOR—I request the Government and fellow citizens that thieves should neither be beaten nor killed but arrested and taken to court. It is the courts of law which should decide the punishment to give them when found guilty.

However, I am not talking about those who use violence to steal. Uganda is now a relatively civilised society governed by the rule of law. The thieves should also benefit from the provisions of this law. Ugandans are a God-fearing people and God forbids us from taking away the lives of others.
Uganda is now drunk with corruption in high offices! This is ‘stealing softly’ which the Government is now trying to fight.
