UPDF bodies retrieved from Lake Albert

FOUR bodies of the UPDF soldiers who drowned in Lake Albert last week have been retrieved.

FOUR bodies of the UPDF soldiers who drowned in Lake Albert last week have been retrieved.

Joseph Oyolo, the officer in charge Kitebere Landing Site Police post, identified the dead as: Tom Ojok, Albert Anguyo, Joseph Kadikwa and Robert Ruhandika.

Oyolo said the soldiers were returning from Ntoroko in Bundibugyo district where they had gone to collect their monthly salaries.

He attributed the accident to over loading of the boat with bunches of matooke and maize flour.

Oyolo said during evening hours, the lake has strong winds which could have deen the cause of the accident.

The bodies were retrieved on Saturday afternoon after an intensive search by fishermen, UPDF marines and the Police.
