A NEW information technology supplies company has opened in Kampala.

Sai Office Supplies, a subsidiary of Ramco Group of Companies, launched the sh2b investment last week “to tap into one of East Africa’s most lucrative markets”, according to Jeeten Rajani, the managing director.

Jeeten, who was speaking at the launch of the firm at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel, said they would invest about sh30b in the next five years.”

The company deals in stationery, office automation products and office electronic appliances.

Speaking at the event, Boney Katatumba, the Pakistani honorary consul in Uganda, said the entry of new firms into the local market shows that investors have confidence in the economy.

He added Uganda had diverse investment opportunities, which can improve the lives of domestic entrepreneurs. A 2008 World Bank report indicated that Uganda had untapped investment opportunities.

The firm also has branches in Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria and Zimbabwe.
