ERIC Malinga will get another chance to work on his transformation from an out-and-out small forward to a bit-part shooting guard when the Kyambogo Warriors take on the Charging Rhinos in the FUBA Sprite Challenge today.

Eric, along with brother Henry, joined the Warriors from the Falcons last week and the pair featured in the team’s 120-60 win over the Kings in their opening fixture of this lucrative preseason tournament.

“We want Eric to play outside (the arc) a lot more,” said Warriors patron Ambrose Tashobya last week. “We want him to shoot more three pointers because he is a great shooter.

As if to validate Tashobya’s faith, the former Falcons star sunk 13 three-pointers in the victory over the Kings, which was followed with an 89-60 triumph over Berkley that booked Kyambogo’s progress to the quarterfinals.

The Rhinos booked their place in the last eight courtesy of a 102-39 hiding of third division TLC. The Rhinos are not likely to get past Kyambogo but they will not mind bowing out with a consolation prize of sh500, 000.

All the losers in today’s four fixtures will walkway with a half a million shillings, part of the sh14.2m prize money to be awarded to the 16 teams taking part.
