RESIDENTS of Padyere county in Nebbi district have been called upon to vote for an NRM candidate in next week’s parliamentary by-election.

Minister without portoflio Dorothy Hyuha said an NRM candidate would join the majority side in Parliament and push for issues that affect the constituents.

Hyuha, who is also the NRM deputy secretary general, said out of 330 MPs, 240 belong to the NRM, which gives the party an upper hand over issues discussed in Parliament.

“This is your time to decide whether you want to join the majority side, where your voice will be heard, or the minority side, where you will keep in the cold,” Hyuha said.

She made the remarks while addressing NRM village leaders at the Mayor’s Garden in Nebbi town on Monday.

Hyuha said previous representatives like Patrick Okumu Ringa and Dr. Salim Bachu had always been appointed ministers until 2006 when the area voted for a UPC candidate.

“If you make the same mistake again, you are going to remain in the cold,” she said.
