TOM (not real name) is a professional in his late 40s. He talked to Chris Kiwawulo about his condition. Since my school days, I have been a party animal.

But as I got to my mid-40s four years ago, my family got concerned about my continued bachelorhood and mounted pressure on on me to marry.

Subdued, I got ‘serious’ with one of my several girlfriends and within a year, we were husband and wife. But my partying lifestyle did not end.

“He is a ladies man. It was just a matter of time before resuming partying,” a friend said. Another friend remembers how they nicknamed me “a warrior” given my apparent insatiable sexual appetite.

As I continued partying, my weight kept on increasing. Just two years ago, I was diagnosed with diabetes. Though I appeared touched by the illness, it was not easy for me to abruptly stop partying and running after girls.

But my steamy sex life abruptly got obstructed when I lost my potency. I started ‘firing blanks’ and within no time, girls started running away. My marriage was on the rocks as my wife could no longer get sexual satisfaction.

I had to look for an immediate solution. Friends advised me to use some herbal concoction sold in town to rejuvenate my sexual strength. But it only worked for a week and this time round I became even weaker sexually.

I went back for another dose but this time it worked for only two days. I contemplated going back for another dose but a friend dissuaded me and instead advised me to seek medical attention.

This is when a doctor informed me that if I had continued to use the herbal concoction, I was on my journey to total impotence.

The doctor has told me to exercise regularly and avoid stressing situations. I am sad and blue because I am is not sure whether I will ever regain my prowness.
