Makumbi magic does it for BUL, Kampala semis tomorrow

JINJA based BUL FC yesterday became the fourth team to qualify for the second Big League edition.

BUL FC beat Tororo’s Rock Tigers 2-0 in eastern region’s super mini-league in Malaba to join northern’s The Boyz, Hoima Central Market from western and Buganda’s Entebbe Young.

Joshua Maseni opened the score with a 16th minute free kick that left goalkeeper Patrick Wafula helpless. William Odama then made it two 20 minutes into the second half to silence the rowdy Rock Tigers’ fans.

The match was stopped for about 20 minutes in the first half as irate Rock Stars fans accused assistant referees Hakim Lubwama and George Wasswa of poor officiation.

Armed police had to intervene before referee Siraj Mpyangu re-started the tension parked encounter.

BUL coach Richard Makumbi was a very excited man after the final whistle. He promised to guide his side up to the Uganda Super League.

“I’ve helped many teams reach the top league. There is no reason why this team shouldn’t also make it to the top,” vowed the ex-international.

The former Coffee defender helped SCOUL, Buikwe, Nalubaale and lately Fire Masters to the top league.

Super mini league action winds up on Sunday with the Kampala final at Nakivubo. The semi-finals are set for tomorrow.
