A 42-year-old man, who raped his three-and-a-half-year-old niece, has been sentenced to 30 years imprisonment for aggravated defilement.

George William Mukisa of Wailasa sub-county in Mayuge district had sexual intercourse with his brother’s child, whom he also infected with a venereal disease.
The incident occurred in October 2009 when the victim’s mother had gone to fetch water, leaving several children under Mukisa’s care.
Court relied on the evidence of the victim’s nine-year-old brother, who said he saw his uncle having sexual intercourse with the girl. “After giving us food, uncle held my sister’s arm and took her inside the house, leaving us outside.
He also carried a mat. After some time, I went inside the house to drink water that is when I found him carrying my sister on his lap.
