Kapchorwa district council last week approved a sh5b budget for this financial year, with the education sector getting the lionâ€™s share. This was at a meeting presided over by the newly-elected district speaker, Kasifa Chikaptui, at Kok Hall. In the 2009/2010 financial year, the council approved a sh15b budget before the district was split into two.
Busitema, India in joint venture
Busitema University has launched a collaboration with DKTE Textile and Engineering Institute of India. Prof. Chandrakant Dattatraya Kane, the DKTE executive director, witnessed the ceremony on Wednesday. The university vice-chancellor, Prof. Mary Okwakol, said the collaboration earmarked specific areas like cotton development and development of silk and wool and human and institutional capacity building. She added that Busitema and DKTE were finalising preparations for a masters of textile technology programme.
