PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has called for integrity and selflessness among Ugandans.

Museveni’s appeal was contained in a speech read by the Minister of State in the Vice-President’s Office, James Baba, during the burial of the late Maj. Tom Bada Angutoko.

“Throughout his life, Angutoko aimed at excelling and maintaining his integrity,” the President said.

“These are qualities he has left behind which our young people can emulate,” he said.

“Angutoko was one of the most disciplined soldiers of his time and was so principled that he could not be compromised,” Museveni observed. “It was on this basis that he left the army,” the President added.

Angutoko was dismissed from the army in 1967. He started a private life and devoted himself to uplifting the farmers’ income by advising them on tobacco farming.

He died on Saturday at the age of 67. He is survived by a widow and seven children, six being girls. He was buried at his home at Ediofe, Pajulu sub-county in Arua district on Thursday.

Bishop Frederick Drandua called on the people in West Nile to treat each other as one, the way they do at a funeral.

He said the same attitude should prevail in all spheres of life like politics and trade.

Drandua expressed concern over lack of aspiration among people of Arua for top leadership. “There is no single presidential candidate from this district,” the bishop stated.
