EDITOR: Sudan is to vote on January 9, 2011 to secede or remain united. I am pessimistic about the future of South Sudan in case of secession, given the experience African independent states have gone through.
EDITOR: Sudan is to vote on January 9, 2011 to secede or remain united. I am pessimistic about the future of South Sudan in case of secession, given the experience African independent states have gone through.
Some of these states prefer that the colonialists came back! Federation for the whole Sudan would give the south a semi-autonomous status with powers similar to self-determination.
Remember there are South Sudanese in the north and vice versa. What will happen in case of a secession? Federation would bring about a soft landing for both northern and southern Sudan.
This would bring about a soft landing for both sides and the Sudanese would make an informed decision in case they want to break away eventually or live together.
Let them share power equally.
