PRESIDENTIAL candidate Samuel Walter Lubega risks being disqualified if he continues purporting that he is a candidate for the Democratic Party, Electoral Commission Boss has said.

PRESIDENTIAL candidate Samuel Walter Lubega risks being disqualified if he continues purporting that he is a candidate for the Democratic Party, Electoral Commission Boss has said.

“Lubega has been saying he is DP, yet he was nominated as an independent candidate. I call upon him to oblige to the law,” EC boss Eng. Badru Kiggundu told journalists this afternoon at the commissions’ offices in Kampala.

“Although there are other processes we can take, disqualification is possible because nobody is above the law,” Kiggundu said.

Lubega and other top DP stalwarts boycotted the Mbale Delegates conference held early this year which elected Norbert Mao as the party’s presidential candidate. Since then there emerged a DP faction headed by Lubega with Michael Bayiga as his secretary general.
