IF Patience Mubangizi wins the Entebbe Municipality MP race, she will be the first woman to do so. She has been the LC5 councillor for Wakiso district.

However, although she was recently declared the NRM flag-bearer for the seat, her rivals in the party primaries have petitioned against the results.

The four petitioners are Amon Muzoora, Christopher Sebuliba, Charles Kirumira and Sumaya Nakanwagi.

The group claims Muzoora won the primaries, but Mubangizi says Muzoora tried to manipulate the results. However, the returning officer blocked him.

NRM supporters in the municipality have expressed concern that while the five fight over the primaries, the incumbent, Mohammed Kawuma (DP), is consolidating his strength.
Kawuma defeated David Byatike Matovu (NRM) in 2006.

Mubangizi has promised the people of Entebbe unity and transparency. “The way to go will be the setting up vocational centres in the area to help the youth who are jobless,” she promised.

Mubangizi has a degree in environment management and is a private consultant in environment matters.
