THE men’s volleyball final series Game One between KAVC and Nkumba came to a sudden halt on Sunday when KAVC fans started a fight at the newly refurbished Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

KAVC, who were leading the game 2-1 were tying the third set 18-18 with Nkumba when the fans got onto the court accusing the referee of being biased.

However, the volleyball body opted to disqualify KAVC and give the win to Nkumba for a 1-0 lead of the series.

“A decision was reached that the win be awarded to Nkumba because it was KAVC fans that caused the interruption,” said UVF vice president Nason Bwesigye.

Today, KAVC will have to come strong to make sure it levels the series at 1-1 in game two if they want to win this year’s title in the best-of-five series.

The UCU Lady Doves defeated the Nkumba ladies at Lugogo for the fourth time this year, to lead the finals series 1-0.

The tie between the university sides attracted a lot of attention since Nkumba are the defending champions as it is the first time that UCU is reaching the finals.
