CRANES Coach Bobby Williamson has promised to make more changes that will turn his side into a more attack-minded unit against Kenya.

In the 1-1 draw gainst Malawi, the Scottish coach opted for five central midfielders at the expense of the wide attacking players —a tactical decision that surprised many.

“After watching Malawi beat Kenya 3-2 earlier, I noticed that they were very strong in the middle and all their attacks were built from the centre of the pitch.

“So I had to employ more midfielders to neutralize their strength and I am happy it worked. It’s unfortunate we conceded an early goal through a careless mistake,” Williamson stated.

For the second consecutive time in the tournament, Cranes came from a goal down, this time forcing a draw against Malawi to stretch their CECAFA unbeaten record to 14 matches.

All that Cranes need to do against Kenya tomorrow —if the game does take place is secure a point to guarantee progress to the quarter-final stages.

“Kenya plays a different style and I am devising a new approach,” Said Williamson.

Kenya match in suspense

At the moment, Cranes’ fixture against Kenya is still in balance after the Kenyan national team held a media briefing yesterday announcing their intensions to boycott Sunday’s game over unpaid allowances.

Harambe Stars coach Jacob Mulee announced the decision on behalf of his disgruntled players.
“I don’t mind losing my job. If players do not want to train and play, I can not force them,” Mulee stated at Landmark hotel.

The press conference was attended by the team’s head of delegation Festus Okul, Kenya Football Limitted (KFL) president Hatim Muhammad and captain James Situma.
