SIR— In addition to Rosa Whitaker’s “Stand up if you a patriotic Ugandan†in The New Vision on Thursday, I wish to say that she gave an outsider’s view of part of Uganda politics and how true!

Our politicians have put petty politics over national interests especially the opposition. No matter who is in government, development in any nation is important. Parties or no parties, a country’s leadership has got to have a programme for its people. Surely parties alone will not “wet my throat†nor will the Movement alone feed me; but a leader of integrity will. How? With the kind of programme of national development that will improve my status and those around me, say in health, security, education, trade and many other areas.
Politician, wake up! Overcome revenge, cowardice, fuelling hate and stand for integrity! You will be remembered as a person who changed Uganda for the better.
