OVER 840 families displaced by the LRA rebels have received food and other items from CEVI, an Italian NGO, and the International Rescue Committee (IRC), working with war-affected persons, reports Ali Mao.
The food items, worth US$90,000 (about sh168m) was secured with funding from the European Communication for Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO). The IRC field officer for the north, Simon Woral, said the items were distributed to displaced persons whose houses and property were destroyed by the rebels.
Each family received six blankets, groundnut and bean seeds, maize flour, and plastic sheeting including hygiene kits. The seeds and tools were donated by CEVI. Ends
