Defence minister Amama Mbabazi has said army commander Maj. Gen James Kazini (right) is in the Sudanese capital Khartoum to meet Sudan army officers and lay strategies on how the two armies can work together to wipe out the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA).

Mbabazi said Sudan, through its minister of defence who was in Kampala recently, agreed to fight alongside the UPDF to shorten the operation against the LRA.

Mbabazi was speaking to his supporters at the Constitutional Square in Kampala soon after being sworn-in as MP for Kinkizi West.

“All along, the Sudanese army has not been fighting Kony other than allowing us in their land. But now they have agreed to fight with us and finish off Kony,” Mbabazi said.

Mbabazi warned renegade UPDF officers col. Anthony Kyakabale and samson Mande not to attack Uganda from the Democratic Republic of Congo, saying the country was no longer a safe haven.

“Let them try us, they will perish like the ones we dealt with before,” Mbabazi said.
He vowed to use all means to bring back his former political opponent James Musinguzi to the mainstream Movement.
