TWO Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) officers accused of murdering a top aide to Col. Elly Kayanja, the Operation Wembley commander, have been denied bail.

The General Court Martial yesterday ruled that Sgt. Benon Mugume, 32, and Sgt. Francis Akankwasa, 28, both attached to CMI’s Operation Analysis department at the headquarters at Kitante Courts, and co-accused Erimia Male, 28, would interfere with the investigations.

They allegedly shot dead James Kalungi and Erimia Male, a welder, on Bombo at around 11:00pm.
Kalungi reportedly worked under the Joint Anti-Terrorism Squad and for the CMI, as an undercover agent.
