A HIGH-RANKING French military officer has said his country is interested in helping Africa find solutions to its military and political crises through military and diplomatic interactions.
Col. Patrice Caille, the French Joint Staff officer- in-charge of relationships between the French forces and African armies, said France wanted to give more opportunities to peace in the region through personal contacts using languages commonly spoken in the continent.
Caille was on Tuesday addressing UPDF officers attending a four- week French language course at the Junior Staff College in Gaddafi barracks, Jinja.
He said it was necessary for African armies to learn more languages like French, to be able to have personal contacts and interactions.
He was accompanied by the French defence attaché to Uganda, Lt. Col Christian Ramade.
The UPDF chief of training and operations, Col. Benon Biraro was present.
