TOP Kapchorwa district politicians have said they want President Yoweri Museveni to be allowed to contest in the 2006 presidential elections.
They disassociated themselves from recent press reports attributed to Tingey MP Steven Chebrot (right).
He was quoted as saying he was “sad and disappointed” that the Kyankwanzi meeting proposed a third term for President Yoweri Museveni.
Former Kapchorwa district MP in the 1980s, Sam Sakajja, Lt. Leonard Chemonges, who lost the Tingey parliamentary seat to Chebrot in 2001 and Kapchorwa Mayor George Toskin criticised this in Kampala on Thursday.
They said Museveni should be allowed to complete his programmes.
Sakajja, 54, a former staunch UPC supporter, cited the Universal Primary Education and tarmacking of the 43-km Sironko-Kapchorwa road which previous governments had ign as key achievements of the Movement.
