THE state minister for health (general duties), Capt. Mike Mukula, at the weekend helped to raise more than sh24m in cash and pledges in aid of Kasese Primary School in Kasese town.

The school needs about sh100m to get a facelift after it hosted hundreds of people displaced by the Allied Democratic Front rebels.

The best in last year’s Primary Leaving Examinations in the district, the school also needs latrines for its more than 30 members of staff.

Mukula auctioned President Yoweri Museveni’s portrait at sh2m. Hima Cement gave sh8m worth of cement, while Kasese Nail and Wood Company pledged to rehabilitate three classrooms at sh3m.

Mukula directed that all children in the district, starting with those in Kasese Primary School, be de-wormed.

He said this was one of the sure ways of improving their academic and health standards.
