STATE minister for agriculture Kibirige Ssebunya has lashed out at people discussing the successor to President Yoweri Museveni.
“You are witches or wizards who want to kill the president,†Kibirige said. He was addressing disabled leaders from Wakiso district at the closure of a two-day lobbying and advocacy skills training workshop at Kawanda Country Inn on Wednesday.
Dressed in an army green suit and brown tie, Kibirige said, “In our African culture, we never discuss about an heir before someone dies. This is 2003 and presidential elections are in 2006. How do you begin asking for an heir when the President is still alive? Those discussing about President Museveni’s successor are witches.â€
“According to the Constitution, between June 2004 and June 2005, a referendum has to be held to decide which system will steer the nation. We waste a lot of time electioneering. We hold so many elections from LC1 to LC5 and Women’s representatives,†he added.
He advised participants to avoid political talk and instead think of development, security and money.
“You are dying of preventable diseases like Cholera, AIDS Tuberculosis and Polio. How can you then begin discussing the President’s successor and the third term?†he asked.Ends
