POLICE in Lira has arrested the headmaster of Abutoadi primary school, Vincent Ewoo in Amach sub-county on allegation of not paying the salary of a former teacher on his staff.
Vincent Ewoo was arrested on Tuesday at the school for not paying Eunice Apio’s salary.
Apio was transferred from Abutoadi primary school in February to Ageni primary in Kwera in Dokolo county but still gets her salary from Abutoadi.
Eunice Apio told The New Vision on Wednesday that she went to Abutoadi on July 11 to get her salary but the headmaster gave her a letter directing her to get her money from the salary section in the district.
Apio said she took the letter to the district headquarters but was told the headmaster had signed for all the money for every teacher in the school. No single teacher’s salary was left behind, she was told. Apio said she decided to take legal action against the headmaster. She reported the matter to the Police.
When contacted, the officer in charge of criminal investigation department, Charles Eresu, confirmed the arrest.
