Mr Kigongo mistaken about primary school teachers

SIR— I was amazed, when I heard over the radio, and read in papers that the Movement vice-chairman, Moses Kigongo, said he would give sh1m to any Mpigi primary teacher who has the capacity to pass PLE exams.

SIR— I was amazed, when I heard over the radio, and read in papers that the Movement vice-chairman, Moses Kigongo, said he would give sh1m to any Mpigi primary teacher who has the capacity to pass PLE exams.

Mr Kigongo was wrong
because he doesn’t have any data on what he said. Secondly, instead of looking for solutions on how to improve academic performance in Mpigi district (where he hails from), he and other leaders have left most schools in a sorry state and poorly facilitated.

Also, instead of blaming parents for having failed to play their role, such as provision of books and lunch, he only pinned down teachers most of whom have similar qualifications with those in the good schools like Nakasero Primary School and Buganda Road Primary School and others. Most teachers have the capacity to make pupils pass,
but are poorly facilitated.

Kigongo should have come up with measures of how
to develop our schools.
