The level of attention that tourism gets from the Government is still very minimal.
Professor Thomas Wolfgang, president of the Uganda Tourism Association (UTA) said last week, “Government has not fully appreciated this sector. Tourism was left out of the Poverty Eradication Action Plan and even by National Planning Authority.
“Last year alone, the country received about 254,000 tourists, there by contributing up to about $194m to the national coffers,†he said.
Wolfgang was last week speaking during the monthly SKAL Club, Kampala chapter dinner at Shanghai restaurant. South African Airways (SAA) sponsored the dinner.
SKAL Club, formed in 1994, has 35 members who meet monthly.
