KAMPALA — Two Indian children have gone missing after they were reportedly kidnapped over the weekend. Sirisha Munnamgi, 8, and Say Rut Vik 9, were allegedly kidnapped on Sunday near Lugogo, a city suburb at about 11:00am. They were travelling in a Land Cruiser registration number UAA 777 H driven by their family driver. The deputy Police chief, Henry Tukahirwa, declined to give details.

Rebels beat Apac priests
APAC — Two Italian priests were reportedly beaten up when a group of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels infiltrated Iceme Catholic Mission in Iceme sub-county, in Uyam North constituency. Local security reports said the rebels abducted an unspecified number of civilians from within and around the Catholic mission. The assistant resident district commissioner, Charles Akello-Omara, yesterday said the rebels attacked Iceme on Saturday night.

Ex-convict lynched
KABAROLE — A man newly discharged from jail was recently lynched for stealing chicken. The incident took place at Kijanju village, Kasusu parish in Fort/Portal municipality. Steven Baruti, the officer in-charge of criminal investigations at Fort/Portal Police, said Mohamad Ndyanabo broke into a chicken house. The crackling of the birds awakened the owner who pursued the thief. Ndyanabo released some of the birds not long after which a mob descended on him beating him, to death. He had served nine months.
