MARGARET Turyamubugana says cool weather and a holding course are the conditions she needs to retain her Uganda Ladies golf open title.

Turyamubugana, popularly called ‘Turya’ is anxious that the dry conditions and fast greens are softened by rain.

“I would prefer another round of light rain before the tee-off, the course would then be holding, this is a condition I like,” the Kampala player said.

Turya, who completed a hat trick of Open wins last year, said the sweltering temperatures in the recent past adversely affected her game.

“The course was running and the biggest problem was getting the putting bit of my game right.”

The 54-hole strokeplay starts today at the par-72 Uganda Golf Club course, Kitante.

Turya is up against Monica Ntege, last year’s runner’s up. She came close to the big prize on six other occasions.

Another player capable of mounting a credible challenge is Cecilia Lwanga. She finished within the top five for the third time in four years.
