THE Government is yet to conclude the divestiture of 40 public enterprises, the privatisation state minister said last week.

“Government is yet to privatise 40 former enterprises. We still have a lot of mobilisation to be done in order to attract more investors because since government resolved to divest them, they must be sold off to the private sector,” Prof. Peter Kasenene said.

Kasenene was on Friday briefing members of an outward investment promotion mission that he is leading to Australia.

The meeting took place at his office on Communications House in Kampala.

The mission includes government officials and members of the private sector who will also attend the Investment and Tourism seminar scheduled for October 6-15.

During the visit, the delegation will meet the Australian ministers of industry and trade, mining, science and technology, education and science.

The delegation from Makerere and Kyambogo Universities will meet the deputy vice chancellor and staff of Sydney University to discuss co-joint degrees.

Delegates will address investors interested in tourism.

They will on October 9 celebrate Uganda’s independence anniversary with Ugandans in Australia who will also be addressed by the mayor of Aubum town council and a leader of the Ugandan Community.
