A MAN in Bamunaanika, Luweero, beheaded his female neighbour with an axe, before a mob of villagers lynched him on Monday.
Juma Illukol was killed at 5.30pm after the irate mob searched for him for two days.
Luweero Police said Illukol had been on the run after killing Nalongo Auma, whose decapitated body was found lying in a pool of blood.
Luweero District Police Commander Okello Makmot said on police had not established the motive of the murder.
He said Illukol fled the village the day Nalongo was murdered, prompting the villagers to suspect him.
Makmot said the villagers mounted a hunt and arrested Illukol at Nabiteeta, a neighbouring village.
He said by the time police reached the scene, Illukol had been beaten to death by a mob, which was preparing to set the body on fire.
“We found the body lying beside firewood,†he said adding that Police was carrying out investigations into the murders.
