One of the exhibitors in this year’s trade show, John Lugendo and Co Ltd, has fabricated a moringa grinding mill, which can grind 40-50 kgs of dried moringa leaves in an hour.
According to Richard Ssozi, the sales representative, the machine can be operated either by a 5hp petrol engine or using 240 volt electricity.
The machine costs sh1.5m together with a motor. Materials required to assemble it can be acquired locally. These mainly include mild steel plates and nuts. Stainless or galvanised steel is used for the ‘mouth’ of the machine that would prevent any reactions with the plant, which may be harmful to anyone intending to use it. Ssozi said that the machine has so far been sold to three people upcountry.
The company located in Ndeeba on the Kampala-Masaka road offers after-sales service to their customers .
