ROSA Whitaker, the Whitaker Group chief said on Friday, Apparels Tri-Star Uganda Limited was one of best initiatives doing well under AGOA.

She was touring the factory with an Asian trade delegation.

“Tri-Star started at a low pace, but they have highly picked up. Their contribution can not be ignored,” Whitaker said. She lauded Tri-Star boss Vellupillai Kananathan for promoting the initiative.

Kananathan said he did not mind about Parliament criticism because MPs were doing their work.

“My concern is how to create more factories and employment. MPs have their own rights, but we have to cooperate. I am sure we are going to work as brothers and sisters to develop the industry,” he said.

He said he had commitment with Government “and my concentration is to increase capacity to fully exploit the AGOA initiative. We have a huge demand but our capacity is less.”

He said everybody’s concentration should be to increase capacity.
