KCC gets sh6b boost
KAMPALA — The City Council (KCC) has received sh5.6b for the Local Government Development Progra-mme (LGDP) phase II. The money will be used to provide services needed by city residents during this financial year. A KCC statement said the sh5,645, 835, 587 will be utilised by the five city divisions, Central, Rubaga, Makindye, Nakawa and Kawempe.

2 CMI men out on bail
KAMPALA — Two Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) men accused of killing an Internal Security Organisation operative, Sam Kalungi, have been released on bail by the General Court-Martial. Sergeants Benon Mugume and Francis Akankwasa, regular members of the UPDF, were granted a sh1m bail each yesterday by the court sitting in Makindye.

Cops hold 70 students
MASAKA — The Police have arrested over 70 students of St. Charles Lwanga Kasasa, including many Tanzanians, accusing them of staging a violent strike at night during which they pelted stones at the school premises destroying property worth millions of shillings. The incident took place on Tuesday. They are to be produced before court, the Police said yesterday.
