MOSES Kipsiro and Abraham Chepkirwok are the front runners for this year’s MTN top Athlete-of-the-year award that is due today at Grand Imperial Hotel.

The duo, who have had an excellent outdoor season, which climaxed with both winning a silver medal at the IAAF World Athletics, were drafted by the Uganda athletics technical committee, as front-runners for the award on Thursday.

“They have had a successful season and they are being eyed for the top award. They will win a trophy and some other prizes courtesy of the sponsors,” Namayo Mawerere, the national federation publicity secretary said yesterday.

Both athletes are already in the country. “We will award the top male and female performers and the promising stars of last year,” added Mawerere.

World Junior championship silver medalist Benjamin Kiplagat, Commonwealth Youth gold medalist Moses Kibet, Justine Bayiga, Doreen Chesanga and Adero Nyakisi are among the others seeking awards.
