A MAN who appeared to be in a rush, got into an Entebbe-bound taxi near the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party headquarters in Najjanankumbi, Kampala.

He was heading to Lweza, about 12km from Kampala, on the same road.
Expecting to pay the usual sh300, he gave the conductor a sh500 coin. The conductor gave him change of sh100 instead of sh200.

When he asked for the balance, the conductor tried to fool him, pretending not to be hearing him and kept calling out to other passengers.

When the taxi got to Lweza, the man majestically walked out and as the conductor rushed to close the door, he gave him a heavy slap and said in Luganda:

“Nkusaba balansi wange wefula atawulira. Genda ogulemu eddagala lya panadol ojja kuba bulungi,” meaning: I am asking you for my balance and you are pretending not to hear me. Use that sh100 to buy panadol tablets and you will be cured.

The driver parked the car and came out to rescue his colleague. But by this time, the passenger had crossed the road at a break-neck speed, towards Lweza Clays Limited.

The conductor cried out and wailed while the amused passengers burst out in laughter. They were heard telling him he deserved it.
