ECOBANK, a pan-African bank, has launched its operations in Uganda by opening six branches in Kampala. The governor Bank of Uganda, Tumusiime Mutebile, launched the bankâ€™s operations at its headquarters on Parliamentary Avenue in Kampala, last week.
He assured the public that the bank had a strong financial base. â€œWe are pleased to have opened.
â€œWe welcome the opportunity to extend our range of banking services to Ugandans,â€ Dele Alabi, the managing director, said.
David Twahirwa, the chairman board of directors, hailed the government for creating a good investment environment.
â€œEcobankâ€™s strategy is to extend services to all the segments of the community,â€ Twahirwa said. The bank has 6,000 branches in 23 countries.
