Nampijja’s success cheers up distraught mum

RESTY Kyanzi was one of the traders whose merchandise perished in the burnt Nakivubo Park Yard market inferno and was at home yesterday when her daughter, Ruth Nampijja, returned home screaming.

“Mummy, I have passed highly and I am going to Makerere,” she cried.
Kyanzi rose from her bed in disbelief, cried and later beamed with joy. She lost cash over sh2.2m worth of goods.

Kyanzi, who was dealing in second hand shoes, said her daughter had washed away her tears.

Nampijja got scored 19 points (1BBBC) from Physics, Economics, Mathematics, and Entrepreneurship and was the best science student at Brilliant High School in Kawempe.

“I am now confident that I will be offered my favourite course, Quantitative Economics at Makerere on government sponsorship,” she said.

The school director, Stephen Mulondo, said Nampijja was one of this best students and he encouraged her to persue Sciences.
