Communities should engage in voluntary work to improve infrastructure such as the road network, former national football star Frank Kyazze has said.

Kyazze has established a community development project, the Mutundwe Association for Development to empower locals with skills to improve their standards of living through increased income.

Addressing local leaders and the youth at Kanaala Playground in Mutundwe Parish, Wakiso recently, Kyazze said community members should not wait for the Government to do everything for them.

“As we wait for the Government to intervene, we should mobilise and forge a way forward,” he said. He appealed for the promotion of sports like football and boxing, saying they were under-exploited and yet paid highly.

The association’s chairman, Edward Ssennyonga, said residents have been equipped with candle-making skills which have enabled them increase their incomes.
