I’m so anxious to meet my baby

WEEK 36

USED to imagine the nine months of pregnancy were calculated mathematically. However, I discovered that they are calculated as 40 weeks, which makes it ten months instead.

Flabbergasted by the mathematics, I asked a doctor for clarification, who said since some months are not 30 days, the other days are compensated in there. Another doctor reassured me saying it was all right for a baby to be born between 36 and 40 weeks.

The anxiety to meet the baby is getting the better of me with each passing day. I’m feeling uncomfortable and weak and . I sought a doctor’s opinion. The doctor examined me and used a Doppler heart tone machine to check the baby’s heartbeat. I was declared fine and encouraged to stay calm lest I get myself into labour prematurely.

These days, I eat a lot of food and when I’m satisfied, I feel my tummy is so full that the baby will burst out.

I’m also beginning to think there is little space for the baby in the tummy, as I can feel each move it makes. Some times I feel my skin is being strained by what I think is the baby’s elbow and it is actually protruding through the skin.

Having two of my nephews visiting this week, my husband and I both agree that we were taken through a taste of what parenting is, so we now think we are set and ready for it.
