KCC FC players have threatened not to travel for their MTN CAF Champions League return leg against Sudan’s El Merreikh until their two-month wage arrears are fully settled.

Uganda’s continental representatives are due to depart for Khartoum today, but that might not happen if the playing staff stick to their word.

“We are going no where if we are not paid our balances. We have had enough of the empty promises,” one player who asked not to be named stressed yesterday.

Each player is owed about sh380,000. The club therefore has to fork out sh5m before the team leaves

The ‘strike’ started after players missed transport fare back home yesterday.

Half of the team’s four-month wage arrears were settled the night before the first leg against the Sudanese, still only after boycott threats.

“It’s our money, why do we have to first threaten to boycott a game to be paid,” one player asked. KCC have to overturn a 1-0 first leg home deficit.

Club secretary Richard Omongole admitted: “We are trying to work out something for them.”
