BOXING - Ugandan boxers registered mixed results over the weekend in South Africa and USA as they sought glory in the ring. South Africa-based David Kitooke, lost a WBO Africa light heavyweight world title fight on points to Malawi’s Isaac Chilembe over 12 rounds. The three judges gave the fight to the Malawian 118-110,116-111 and 120-110. In Las Vegas, former national captain lightweight Sharif “The Lion” Bogere, went 10 unbeaten with a win over Broderick Antoine in a six round non title fight.

Warriors pick

BASKETBALL - Kyambogo Warriors boosted its campaign for the league by signing two foreign players Ramathan Abdullahi from Tanzania and Martin Okwako from Kenya. Abdullahi 32, featured for Tanzania’s Vijana and was a two-time MVP in the Seychelles where he played at professional level for Premium Cobra. Okwako, 26, featured for Kenya Cooperative Bank. He was most defensive player in 2007 and league MVP twice.

SOCCER - The City Tyres/Friends of Football side continued its country tour with wins over select sides from Masaka and Mbarara over the weekend. Moses Waiswa, Geresom Wabuyi and Patrick Sazi scored a goal apiece as FOF overcame a Masaka side 3-0 on Saturday.
