If traffic officers can do better, why install traffic lights?

In the long run, this will affect the growth of our economy as many hours are lost on the road. I keep wondering why the country wasted so much money installing traffic lights when traffic officers can do the job. The officers are part of the problem.

Take an example of Shoprite and Queen’s way junction. Passengers from the taxi parks have to wait for not less than 35 minutes to go through that junction! Much attention is drawn to people using Entebbe road as if those from Ben Kiwanuka Street don’t have pressing issues or are not tired.

It seems that those who use public means are not considered to be human beings although they are taxpayers. Another example is the Jinja road junction at Kitgum House especially in the morning hours. The traffic officers pretend to be hard-working, but instead mess up the system.

At this junction, the traffic officers wave through people entering the city three times before they release those getting out or those going to Yusuf Lule road. If they can do the work of the traffic lights why waste money installing the lights?

Why would you buy a dog to guard your home and then start doing the barking yourself? This nonsense must stop.
