SKILL and experience will be key as the national Nile Special ‘Sink the Black’ pool championships ends today with 128 players battling for cash, pool tables and trophies at Sabrinas Pub.

Action starts at 10am until late in the night with breaks of music shows from the G-force dance group and a celebrity pool tournament of top local musicians and radio presenters.

The top eight seeded players, who joined the finals without breaking sweat, will be drawn randomly with the rest with each of the players participating in picking his opponent until up to the quarter-finals where match ups will be obvious.

Players will compete in a best-of-three format from the preliminaries up to the round of 32 after which games will increase at every stage up to the finals, to be decided from 13 games..

The overall winner will walk away with sh1.5m, a pool table valued at sh3.5m. Another table valued at the same amount will be provided at his favourite bar.

Other participants reaching the round of 16 up to the runners up will get cash prizes ranging from sh0.25m to sh1m for the runners up.

Another three pool tables are up for grabs from a draw for participants of the ‘‘sink a Nile and win a pool table’’ promotion.

Nile Breweries sunk in over sh300m in what is to become an annual nationwide tournament.
