THE youth living with HIV/AIDS in Soroti district have appealed for antiretroviral (ARVS) drugs and food from the state minister for youth and children affairs, Lt. Jessica Alupo.
They say they have not been able to access treatment and nutritious food due to the impassable roads in their villages.
They made the appeal while meeting Alupo in Soroti at Agonyo One village, Kidetok, Pingire sub-county, Kasilo county on Tuesday.
Alupo was touring rice farms in Kidetok cultivated using the tractor donated to the youth by President Yoweri Museveni.
Alupo promised to follow up the matter of drugs and road works and advised the youth to abstain from sex until they get married.
“I don’t want you to get involved in early sex and marriage because HIV/AIDS is real,†said Alupo, adding that the youth should first study if they want to live better lives.
Alupo received LC3 chairperson for Pingire, Michael Ongwara who crossed to NRM from FDC with about 100 youth.
