SOCCER - Bugembe United thumped Idudi FC 3-0 to lift the Kyabazinga Cup on Saturday in a one-sided match played at Bugembe Stadium. Two goals in the first half from Ayub Isiko and Grace Magoola and an individual second half effort from Suudi Wantate, condemned the former Super League side Idudi to defeat.

Mathare players injured in Kericho

SOCCER - Four players of a top Kenyan club were seriously injured while several others sustained minor injuries yesterday when their bus rammed into a lorry after the brakes failed in Kericho, Rift Valley area. The players and officials of defending Kenya Premier League Champions, Mathare United were travelling to Agro Chemicals in Nyanza Province for their weekend league assignment when the accident occurred. Mathare finished fourth in this year’s Kagame Cup.

Lira Red Cross women win 9-0

SOCCER - Lira Red Cross Women Football Club pounded Nancy School for the Deaf 9-0 in the opening match of the district league at Lango sports ground on August 7.
The league was flagged off by Lira District Football Association chairman Joseph Orombi. He encouraged more women to take up the sport since there are few women footballers.
