Unknown thugs recently shot dead a Police constable at Bushika Police post in Bududa district and stole his gun.

Eastern regional Police spokesman Iddi Ssenkumbi said the thugs raided the post at 11:30pm on Sunday and found Jimmy Chan Kedi at the reception.

Police investigations show that the thugs dragged Kedi into the compound and shot him in the chest.

“We are still investigating the motive of the murder, but preliminary findings indicate that the thugs were merely interested in the gun,” Ssenkumbi said.

He said the chief of the post, Cpl. James Kyagaba, the officer in charge of criminal investigations, Christopher Walimbwa and another constable, Linzi Kawa, were arrested to help with the investigations.
