BUSIA town council leaders have blamed the increased crime in the area on the late arrival of the Police at the scenes of crime.

During a security meeting at Angels Hotel on Wednesday, the LC1 chairperson of Arubaine B village, Moris Ochieng, accused the Police of concentrating their patrol in villages neighbouring Kenya.

He said the Police leave other parts of the town where they are assigned to patrol and go to areas around the border to wait for smugglers.

“The patrol Police is seen on the streets at around 6:00pm and by 10:00pm you don’t see any because they all know the routes the smugglers use,” Ochieng said.

He added that if a robbery took place in the other parts of the town, the Police would either not go to the scene or arrive after a long time.

The district Police commander, Nasur Oringa, however, said the Force was willing to fight crime

He asked the public to support the Police to wipe out crime in the area.
